Introduction. Veterans Sailors’ Forum (VSF) is a forum of retired naval sailors, and was formed on 10 Apr 08, registered under the ‘Society Registration Act – 1860’.
Objectives of VSF.The VSF is a secular and non-political body, which is not affiliated directly or indirectly with any political organisation or institution. Few objectives of VSF, as indicated in its Memorandum of Association (MoA) are as follows: -
To provide focused attention to retired sailors, widows and their dependents on all welfare related issues.
To provide an interface with NHQ/ Commands and other Govt organisations towards availing various benefits earmarked for retired sailors, widows and their dependents, under various schemes promulgated from time to time.
To provide a platform for sharing/ dissemination of information related to opportunities for retired sailors, widows and their dependents.
To place at the disposal of the Government, the Services of the Forum to be utilised in the event of war, calamites, natural or otherwise, whether local or at the National level.
Governing Council of VSF. The Governing Council of VSF is headed by Controller of Personnel Services (CPS), as President VSF: Cmde (NV), as Vice President and other representatives/ members from NHQ/ Commands and VSF Charters.
Command Charters The VSF has four Command Charters, namely Delhi, Mumbai, Visakhapatnam and Kochi, under the VSF Governing Council. The Command Charters have established various Regional Charters for efficient administration, as tabulated below: -

Membership. Any person who has served in the Royal Indian Navy, the Indian Navy and the Naval Reserves for more than one year as a sailor, and has retired/ released under normal course, is solvent and of sound mind, and has not been convicted by a Court of Law in a criminal case, shall be eligible to become a member of the Veteran Sailors' Forum. Benefits of Joining VSF. The benefits of joining the VSF are as follows: -
Helps veterans to connect with the Navy and other veterans, which is helpful especially in times of need.
Helps veterans know about latest Indian Navy and GoI policies concerning veterans, and prevents spread of misinformation. .
Helps in informing veterans, and passing on the benefits of GoI welfare schemes, job opportunities through Indian Naval Placement Agency (run by DNV), etc.
Helps and guide veterans in solving their grievances/ queries on various issues including Pension, Sparsh, ECHS, Canteen, etc.
Helps the Navy reach-out to the veterans in the quickest possible manner.
Helps in organising, conduct and participation in Navy events and functions.
